December’s Goals

Thirty-one days left in 2017.

Time to start thinking about next year’s goals and getting my bullet journal ready for next year.  Can’t believe there’s only 31 days left.

I didn’t complete any Day Zero goals last month.  I did add a few, but that will be in next month’s post.

Non-Day Zero things from last month:

  • Miles reached: 1048.22.  260.78 miles to Rauros!
  • Weight lost: 4.0.  I’m so close!
  • Books read: 23 books.  Posting monthly wrap-up video here.
  • Blog Posts: 7
  • Vlog Posts:  11
  • Complete a first draft during National Novel Writer’s MonthFinished on 11/21/17.
  • Complete five of the eight Hogwarts Running Club Virtual Races.
  • Complete eight challenges in November’s Read-A-ThinPosting wrap-up video here.
  • Host Thanksgiving.  It was awesome but exhausting.

December’s goals are just adding onto or finishing some of November’s goals, like editing my novel and such.

  • Reach 1150+ miles.
  • Lose at least 5 more lbs.
  • 10 blog posts.
  • 20 books.
  • 10 vlogs.
  • Start saving up for Boston!
  • Start saving for honeymoon cruise.
  • Sign up for Run the Edge 2018.
  • Host Christmas.
  • Complete Bookish’s December Readathon.
  • Complete two more virtual HRC races.
  • Come up with 2018 goals.
  • Edit my NaNoWriMo book.

A lot of these are fairly simple and some will take time to do, but they are all doable.

Goal Update-March

Holy cow.  It’s March 1st already?  Wow, this year is going quickly.

Since it is the first of the month, time for a goal update.

These are the 1001 day goals I completed in February:

  • Visit Rainbow Row in Charleston, SC.
  • Visit South of the Border.
  • Go on a scavenger hunt.

Before I get started on March goals, I want to go over what I did in February.

  • Miles reached: 175 ( miles to Rivendell!)
  • Weight lost: 14 lbs
  • Books read: 4
  • Blog Posts: 7
  • Signed up for the Maryland King Crab (The Frederick ½ Marathon, Baltimore 10-Miler, and Baltimore ½ Marathon).
  • Drove to Charleston, SC, and Charleston, WV on back to back weekends.

Not too much done but it was a lot of fun visiting

So what’s March’s goals?

  • Add 100+ more miles.
  • Lose at least 15 more lbs.
  • 12 blog posts.
  • Finish reading 5 more books.
  • Finish and frame my cross-stitch project.
  • Start on the next story to finish.
  • Sign up for a cooking class.
  • Get our commitment tattoos.
  • Buy a lottery ticket.
  • Pass two of classes and start my third class.
  • Finish Dave Ramsey’s financial class.

Lots of things to do.

Today is also the first day of Lent.  For the next 40 days, I’m writing at least three pages a day in my notebook, for good or for bad.

Bullet Journaling

This year to help with reaching some of the goals I posted, I decided to start a Bullet Journal.  I’d watched a few YouTube videos about it, looked at people’s Pinterest boards, and Googled how to create one.

A bullet journal is basically just that:  A journal with bullets in it.  It can be done in a special notebook with dots that help create boxes easier.  It can be done in a basic notebook.  Doodles can go anywhere and handwriting doesn’t really matter since this is a personal journal just to see where time goes and to get things done.

Since the journal is yours, it’s up to you how it works.  Mine starts with a blank first page so if I want to, I can go back and number my pages and create an index of where things are.  Next, I added the year (2017) and a few inspiring words that I think represent this year for me.  From there, it’s a Year at a Glance calendar with some of the important things going on that year.  There’s also a monthly section and even a weekly log.  I’m doing a simple one so I will want to keep going.

Tracking ideas are EVERYWHERE!  Bernadette from She’s Bernadette has a list of 35 things you can track in your journal, from calendars to habit trackers to bill trackers and spending logs.  Christina77Star has a list of 150 ideas for your bullet journal.  Like I said, you can make these as elaborate or as simple as you want.  Just make it personal to YOU.

So here are a few pictures from my journal:

I will say that this first week has actually been pretty good.  As you can see in the weekly log, there are markings.  X means done, > moved forward, < done the day before, and means not happening.

Again, it’s up to you to make it a creative or a simple as you want to.  Pinterest has lots of ideas for how to do and YouTube has plenty of videos to show how other people do their journals.  There is no right or wrong way to journal.  You can see that I use a regular notebook and I’ve written things that are important to me.

There’s also no particular day you have to start either!  Good luck!
