Teamwork…

…makes the dream work right?

Last week, I and the rest of the Hogwarts Running Club (HRC) participated in a dual House competition to bring in the most miles per House and per team.  My team and house won this past so we were celebrating even though we were sad to lose the dual spirit our houses had become.  We also shared new things to do as a house and hope we can provide some motivation for the other house.

If you’re a Harry Potter fan and you want to move around more, whether it’s biking, running, walking, or just more activity in general, then check out HRC.  For me, it’s a home away from home.  Along with pushing each other, we also support each other and share happiness, grief, triumphs, downfalls, victories, and just general things.

And it’s all for a really good cause.  HRC tracks miles using the Charity Miles application.  For every mile walked, ran, biked, hiked, or hacked, Charity Miles donates $0.25 to a charity of the person’s choosing.  There’s about 30 different charities to choose from too so whether you are into helping animals and wildlife or supporting research for cancer or just generally want to do something good, there is a charity out there that could use your help.

Along with Charity Miles, HRC hosts six virtual races and three Direct Impact initiatives each year.  If you want to know more about the HRC, what it does, and the people behind it, here are a few articles:

This year alone, I’m already over 146 Charity Miles so far.  I haven’t moved this much in a really long time so I couldn’t have asked for a better place to pick up the pace.

Oh, and for the record, I’m a Slytherin.

What Harry Potter house are you in?  How do you do #somuchgood?
